Bowers and Merena's July 13-14 official auction at the Baltimore Coin & Currency Convention features a high-grade set of Buffalo nickels and a collection of Saint-Gaudens $20s.
"Part I of the Anne Kate Collection has as its core a high-ranking PCGS Registry Set of Buffalo nickels," stated Steve Deeds, president of Bowers and Merena.
"The Anne Kate Buffalo nickel collection is currently ranked as the sixth-finest basic set on the PCGS Registry, and it is 100-percent complete with an impressive set rating of 65.50. Highlights of this Registry Set include a conditionally rare 1918-S in MS-65, an MS-66 1919-D with an uncommonly sharp strike, a gem 1924-S in MS-65, a low-pop MS-66 1926-D and a key-date 1926-S in MS-65."
Gold collectors will appreciate the pieces Jim Beg gathered, focusing his attention on the Saint-Gaudens double eagle series.
"Highlights include an MCMVII high relief in PCGS MS-63, a conditionally scarce 1909/8 graded MS-64 by the same service, an important 1925-D certified MS-64 PCGS and an infrequently offered 1932 which is also graded MS-64 by PCGS,? said Jeff Ambio, Bowers and Merena's director of Numismatics.
