Bowers and Merena's Anaheim Coin and Collectibles Expo auction May 26 realized more than $2.6 million, including more than $100,000 paid for an 1860 $20 pattern with the Paquet reverse.

The 1860 pattern double eagle, Judd-273, graded Proof-65 RB by Professional Coin Grading Service, sold for $109,250. It features the A.C. Paquet reverse design with tall letters in the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination TWENTY D. It is the only such piece certified by either PCGS or NGC, sale catalogers noted.

A Gold Rush-era Humbert $50 octagonal gold coin (Kagin 6) brought $86,250. This example was graded AU-50 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp.

Also sold was an 1870 $10 gold piece graded NGC Proof-63 Cameo. Catalogers said only 35 were originally struck. It went for $77,625.

A 1915-S Panama-Pacific octagonal $50 gold in PCGS MS-63 sold for $69,000, an 1895 Morgan silver dollar in PCGS Proof-64 hit $63,250, a 1794 half dime in PCGS MS-64 brought $48,300 and an 1856-S Type II Liberty Head gold dollar in NGC MS-64 fetched $39,100.
