Organizers of the National Coin and Currency Convention, to be held Nov. 8-11 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare, issued a hotel reservation alert June 1 to event attendees.
“We’ve been receiving reports of third party agencies contacting our booth holders and inferring that they represent either us or the Crowne Plaza and offering to make their hotel reservations,” said Patricia Foley, show general chairman. “No one, no individual, no agency, no one, represents either the National Coin and Currency Convention or the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in the capacity being claimed by these unauthorized callers, who request credit card and other sensitive information from those whom they contact.
“I’m aware that in some instances with other conventions the dealers contacted have later appeared at the hotel where they thought they had a reservation, only to discover that none was ever made for them,” Foley said.
She urges attendees and booth holders to make their own hotel reservations by calling the Crowne Plaza directly at (877) 337-5793 and asking for the $115 “National Coin and Currency Convention” rate.
