The hot Chinese market got hotter at Heritage Auctions Signature world and ancient coin auction held April 14-18 at the Chicago International Coin Fair in suburban Rosemont, Ill.
A 1928 Year 17 Auto dollar, KM-Y428, graded AU-58 by the Professional Coin Grading Service, sold for $74,750.
Prices here include a 15 percent buyer’s fee.
A 1914 Chinese Republic dollar, KM-Y322, graded MS-67 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp, realized $51,750 and a 1922 Hunan dollar, Year 11, KM-Y404, graded NGC MS-65 brought the same amount.
“These results point to the continuing overall strength of the world and ancient coin market,” said Cristiano Bierrenbach, vice president of international numismatics at Heritage. “We worked closely with Gemini auctions on the very successful, $3.3 million ancient coin session.”
