Leonard Augsburger, author of Treasure in the Cellar: A Tale of Gold in Depression-Era Baltimore, will be the featured speaker Nov. 21 at the Whitman Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention, the firm announced Oct. 7.
Treasure in the Cellar details the story of two boys who unearthed a fortune of gold coins while playing in a Baltimore basement in 1934. Augsburger explores the lives of the boys, the story of the buried gold and its fate after it was recovered. The book showcases Augsburger’s research of the gold hoard and unpublished photographs.
The presentation will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 21 in room 301 of the Baltimore Convention Center. Augsburger will conduct a book signing afterwards at the Whitman Publishing booth on the bourse.
