Arizona quarter arrives in Phoenix

Free money never gets boring. Kids in Arizona enthusiastically received the state

Free money never gets boring. Kids in Arizona enthusiastically received the state?s new quarter from the hands of Gov. Janet Napolitano and Mint Director Ed Moy following the official debut of the coin on the Senate Lawn of the state capitol June 2 in Phoenix.

Many of them were not yet born or cannot remember when the first state quarter honoring Delaware made its initial appearance in 1999.

Adults could buy the quarters by the 40-coin roll for their $10 face value.
?When Americans pull this coin out of their pockets, they?ll immediately think of Arizona,? declared Moy.

The coin depicts the Grand Canyon in the northern part of the state. From elsewhere in the state it shows a Saguaro cactus. Also appearing is the state?s name and the date of its admission to the Union, 1912.

A Mariachi band provided music for the event.

Collectors can buy the new coins directly from the Mint. A two-roll set of coins from Philadelphia and Denver is priced at $32.95.

Bags of 100 coins from each mint are $32.95 and bags of 1,000 coins are $309.95. Bags from both mints are available.

A $4.95 fee per order is imposed to cover shipping and handling on each order. Buyers of the 1,000-coin bags will get charged an additional $7.95 per bag to cover the extra shipping costs.

To order, visit the Mint Web side at www.usmint.gov, or telephone (800) USA-MINT.
