The commission that will help decide on a design for the 2008 Arizona state quarter is now set.

Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano has selected 22 members to serve on the commission. The names were released on Dec. 8.

Commission members include a Phoenix elementary school student, a registered nurse, numismatic hobbyists and educators.

Napolitano ordered the creation of the commission in October. The group will gather suggestions for the quarter?s design and select three to five finalists that will be submitted to the U.S. Mint.

Artists at the Mint will then make renderings of coin designs that will go back to the commission. The commission will then recommend one to Napolitano.

The governor will ultimately decide which one ends up on the coin.

On the panel are coin collectors Earl Quintel of Peoria, Ariz., and Thomas W. Trompeter of Glendale, Ariz.

Educators include Tracy Gross Kroloff, an assistant principal in the Scottsdale, Ariz., Unified School District, and Cartwright Elementary School District substitute teacher Andrea McCoy of Phoenix.

Matthew Rounis, a Phoenix fourth-grader, is on the commission, as is Roberta Jean Crowe, a Phoenix resident who serves on the Governor?s Council on Blindness and Visual Impairment, and Elaine S. Nelson, a Mesa, Ariz., registered nurse and clinical quality specialist for Health Services Advisory Group.

Other commission members include: James I. Bowie, Flagstaff, Ariz.; Sen. Jorge Luis Garcia, Phoenix; Superintendent Tom Horne, Phoenix; Melodee Jackson, Phoenix; Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick; Andrea McCoy, Phoenix; Nancy Murray, Tucson, Ariz.; David Peterson, Phoenix; Farrell A. Quinlan, Phoenix; Kelly Robertson, Florence, Ariz.; Michael J. Romano, Tucson, Ariz.; Gregory Sale, Phoenix; Anthony Tumonis, Tucson, Ariz.; Gladys Ann Wells, Phoenix; Anne Woosley, Tucson, Ariz.; and Juliana Yoder, Phoenix.
