I am not here today. I expect many collectors are not where they usually are on a Friday either.

It is the day before Labor Day weekend. Those who can get away for the last fling of summer have done so.

Next week we will start hunkering back down to the work of making the next coin market seasonal uptick happen.

It is a cinch that interest in coins will rise. It has been a habit for many of us for many years. That won’t change.

We will be aided in this by ongoing interest that people have in the price of gold, silver and other precious metals.

Precious metals are not really numismatic, but when those markets are hot the fallout hits the coin market sharply.

Just reading Pat Heller and Harry Miller’s missives for the past couple of years is an education in just how sharply.

What will happen this fall?

I don’t know the specifics, but I do know auctions will be held, shows will be staged and somehow in all this activity, the odds are that the coin market will distinguish itself from the summer.
