Watch your change April 15. Specially marked quarters will be simultaneously spent at 2 p.m. E.D.T. at hundreds of retail stores across the country to celebrate National Coin Week.
The quarters will direct people to the American Numismatic Association?s Web site, where information about the event and participating clubs can be found.
The first person to contact a participating club with a marked coin wins a Presidential $1 coin proof set. Everyone who contacts a participating club with a marked coin by April 21 is entered in a grand prize drawing on May 13, with the winner receiving a First Spouse $10 gold coin valued at over $400 and provided by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
The ANA has developed several online resources for the coin collecting community?s use for the 84th annual National Coin Week, which is April 15-21. The theme is ?The Presidents Are Coming!? a tribute to the U.S. Mint?s new Presidential $1 Coin Program.
A featured resource is a ready-to-print, two-panel exhibit, ?The Presidents Are Coming! United States Mint Issues New Presidential Dollar Series.? Other online resources include sample press releases, ideas for activities and a National Coin Week flier that can be tailored for local clubs.
In a combined effort with over 50 member clubs, the ANA is organizing a National Coin Week event to promote numismatics nationwide.
The ANA also is partnering with Colorado Springs School District 11 and New Hampshire?s Lin-Wood Public School on April 20 to present ?The Presidents Are Coming!? a live telecast from the ANA Money Museum.
The 45-minute broadcast will feature a series of lighthearted vignettes starring the Father of Our Country, George Washington, along with information about museum exhibits and an interactive question-and-answer session with participating schools.
