ANA museum to get Rochette name Aug. 20

Museum naming ceremony coincides with ANA Member Appreciation Day in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The American Numismatic Association will hold a ceremony to formally rename its Money Museum in honor of Edward C. Rochette during Member Appreciation Day, Aug. 20, in Colorado Springs, following the World?s Fair of Money in Denver.

The ceremony, initially planned during the Summer Seminar, was rescheduled at a time when all members of the ANA board of governors could be present.

?The board looks forward to attending Member Appreciation Day. We all understand the contributions Ed Rochette has made to the ANA and to the hobby and would be honored to share this special moment with him,? said ANA President William H. Horton Jr.

Member Appreciation Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at ANA headquarters in Colorado Springs. A barbeque lunch will be provided for everyone who preregisters, and the staff of the ANA Money Museum and Library will be available to give guided tours and answer questions about the library, collections and exhibits.

The board of governors agreed to rename the ANA Money Museum as the Edward C. Rochette Museum this past December, following a fund-raising drive. Chester L. Krause, founder of Krause Publications, and Clifford Mishler, former Krause chairman, and an anonymous donor contributed $500,000 to name the museum in Rochette?s honor.

About 300 ANA members are expected to attend Member Appreciation Day. For more information on the event, or to register, call (719) 482-9857, or e-mail events@money.org.
