ANA establishes education fund

The Robert B. Lecce Memorial Fund for the Advancement of Numismatic Education was established by the American Numismatic Association board of governors at its July 19 telephone board meeting. Friends of the Boca Raton, Fla., dealer who died of cancer July 10, have already raised $122,000. The goal is $1 million for the purpose of establishing a university level curriculum.

The meeting also included routine business.

The board authorized expenditure of $33,000 for a computer database software upgrade.

In executive session it worked on a conflict of interest policy for board members, but will take the topic up again at the board meetings to be held in August in conjunction with the World’s Fair of Money.

It was reported that U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios will be attending the convention. She will be recognized at the ribbon cutting.
