Efforts by the American Numismatic Association to collect a $53,550.26 arbitration award from the organization’s former executive director Christopher Cipoletti were given the green light by El Paso County District Court Judge Thomas K. Kane in September in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The judge granted a motion to confirm two decisions made by arbitrator Kathryn E. Miller. The first, made May 27, stated that the ANA had terminated Cipoletti’s employment for cause and that he had breached his fiduciary duties to ANA.
The second decision made by Miller July 29 ordered Cipoletti to pay the expenses of the arbitration.
Cipoletti was fired by the ANA board of governors in 2007 after he had been suspended in August of the same year.
The arbitrator found Cipoletti “guilty of intentional misconduct.”
