Even though email has existed for many years now, I still receive from time to time submissions that are typed in all capital letters.

Early on, those on the Internet would reply to these with “Why are you shouting?”

I won’t do that, but all capital letters do pose a problem.

What I will do if the submissions are intended for letters to the editor, I will retype the ones that are a sentence or two in length.

The very long ones I simply delete. There is not enough time in the day to retype submissions of this kind.

On the other side of the coin, I occasionally get submissions that are in all lower case letters.

These are much easier to fix and usually make it into Numismatic News.

I do not expect every submission to look like it came from an English teacher. There is a certain amount of editing that I am happy to give anyone, but deadlines do limit this attention.
