Applications are being accepted by the American Numismatic Association for ?Coins in the Classroom,? a five-day continuing education seminar July 9-13 at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The course shows teachers how to use coins in their primary and secondary classrooms to augment their curriculum in social studies, mathematics and other related disciplines.
?The course consists of presentations, interactive discussions and workshops directed toward understanding how coins from ancient civilizations to modern times can be used to help young minds learn and grow,? said Lane Brunner, ANA Outreach Director. ?The ANA Money Museum and reference library are nationally recognized resources right here in Colorado Springs.?
Teachers accepted into the program receive full tuition scholarships. The ANA will work with participating teachers to secure continuing education credits from local districts; graduate credits are available through Colorado College.
