Final mintage figures released by the Mint show that in 2009 1,493,000 one-ounce gold American Eagle coins were produced. This was the highest figure since 1,505,026 were coined in 1999.
Also, 2009-dated silver American Eagles were produced in a record number of 30,459,000 pieces.
For those keeping track, mintage figures can be different from annual sales figures.
For the half-ounce gold coin, the mintage total was 110,000. The quarter ounce was 110,000 and the tenth ounce was 270,000.
Final mintage for the one-ounce gold Buffalo was confirmed at 200,000. This compares to 189,500 in 2008, 136,503 in 2007 and 337,012 in 2006.
