A 1908 Saint-Gaudens with motto $20 gold piece and an 1853 Seated Liberty arrows and rays half dollar are two of the featured coins in Superior Galleries? 2006 Pre-Long Beach Elite Auction.

Scheduled for May 28-30, the estimated $15 million sale will be held in Beverly Hills, Calif., and will include more than 2,000 lots.

Graded MS-66 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp., the 1853 specimen is described by the cataloger as, ?A blazing brilliant white gem of this important one-year type, with highly concentrated luster and almost ostentatious eye appeal.?

Of the 1908 Saint-Gaudens $20, graded Proof-67 by NGC, the cataloger writes, ?If you have yet to make an acquaintance with a matte proof double eagle, this is an impressive example of the type. This coin is housed in NGC holder 1923608-009; only five Proof-67 examples certified by NGC as of June 2005, with one higher.?

Both coins will go up for sale on May 28 in separate auction sessions.
Other highlights include a 1794 Flowing Hair half dime, certified NGC MS-67, and a 1915-S Panama-Pacific gold $50 round, graded MS-66 by NGC.

Supporting those offerings is a 1796 gold $2.50 bust no stars, graded AU-58 by Professional Coin Grading Service, that the cataloger calls, ?A wonderful, clean surfaced example of the very desirable no stars 1796 quarter eagle.?
