AnnounceMints: A Galactic Tribute: The Dr. Vera Rubin Quarter
Honoring a trailblazer of the cosmos, the latest American Women Quarter celebrates Dr. Vera Rubin—pioneer of dark matter research and tireless advocate for women in science.
The next issue in the U.S. Mint’s American Women Quarters honors Dr. Vera Rubin. Rubin was an astronomer whose work provided crucial evidence for the existence of dark matter. She became a leading figure in astrophysics and an advocate for women in STEM.
The reverse of the quarter depicts Dr. Rubin gazing upward, smiling. She is surrounded by a spiral galaxy and other celestial bodies. Inscriptions include “DR. VERA RUBIN,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “ E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and “DARK MATTER.”
The obverse shares the series' common obverse design: a portrait of George Washington created by Laura Gardin Fraser.
Rolls and bags became available from the Mint on June 3, 2025. A stunning addition to the series.
