Last Coin in Declaration Preamble Series Released
The final coin of the U.S. Mint’s Preamble to the Declaration of Independence platinum proof series is on deck. The “Pursuit of Happiness” coin is set to go on sale at noon Jan. 30.
The 2018-2020 Preamble to the Declaration of Independence series features a newly designed 1-ounce 99.95 percent platinum proof coin issued in each of the series’ three years.
The obverse design of the Pursuit of Happiness proof coin depicts Lady Liberty harvesting the fruits of her labor with a young girl playing nearby. The overflowing cornucopia she carries is a symbol of the physical, intellectual and spiritual bounty only liberty makes possible. The home, orchard, and silo represent American hopes, values, and aspirations, bringing to a close the narrative told throughout the series – from furrowed earth to prairies and mountains, and then finally to an agrarian field.
The common reverse depicts an eagle in flight with an olive branch in its talons. It was created by Artistic Infusion Program Designer Patricia Lucas-Morris, while the obverse designs for the three-year series were created by AIP Designer Justin Kunz.
Each platinum coin is encapsulated and packaged in a black velvet, satin-lined presentation case accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
The product price was not available at the time of writing. The mintage limit is 13,000, and the household order limit is restricted to one.
