Celebrating the 40th Coin of the Year
The Coin of the Year (COTY) awards program has recently announced some exciting news: the program will be headed to the ANA’s World Fair of Money for a live ceremony this August. This will be the first live ceremony since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Making the event even more special, this will mark the 40th COTY, an impressive milestone that the COTY staff are excited to share. They’ve been working hard to make it happen. The call for nominations that is sent to mints around the world usually takes place at the end of the summer, and the first round of voting occurs in December, allowing for results to be announced in the beginning of the new year.
This year staff sent out the call for nominations in March, completely changing the timeline and moving forward to close the gap between the year of the coins being judged, and the announcements of the winner. This brings us to the 40th COTY at the ANA, which will honor 2022-dated coins.
