King Charles Bank Notes

The new King Charles III bank notes entered circulation on June 5, 2024. The Bank of England designed them, and De La Rue printed them.

The bank note company De La Rue provides two core services for various governments, central banks, and other commercial organizations worldwide: currency printing and authentication.

The company, which was established over 200 years ago, has confirmed that it is amid possible takeover talks in a strategic update that was published on May 30. The two divisions may be broken up or merged with another business. De La Rue stated that they are “in discussions with a number of parties who have made proposals in relation to, or expressed interest in, either of the Group’s divisions.” The announcement continues, saying that the interest shown may not result in a transaction or what the terms of the transaction would be.

Clive Whiley, chairman, commented, “Since my appointment a year ago, the Board has considered a broad range of possible strategic alternatives including transactions with multiple parties which may involve a combination with, or the sale of, the Group’s divisions.”

Further information will become available as talks progress.
