Over 1,900 lots of ancient Greek, Celtic, Oriental Greek, Central Asian, Roman Provincial, Roman Republican and Roman Imperial coinage will be among the highlight of Triton XVIII, an auction to be conducted by Classical Numismatic Group Jan. 6-7, 2015, at the New York International Numismatic Convention.

A highlight of the Triton XVIII sale is a silver tetradrachm, right, of Seleukos I Nikator of Syria, 312-281 B.C.E.. (26mm, 17.07 g, 2h). Susa mint. Struck circa 305/4-295 B.C.E. Head of hero facing right. On reverse Nike stands right, holding in both hands a wreath that she places on trophy. Estimate is $75,000.

Total of combined estimates exceeds $6.5 million, the firm said.

The sale contains material from three museums:

The MoneyMuseum of Zurich, Switzerland, the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, Canada, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in the United States.

There is also material from more than a dozen private collections including the Jonathan K. Kern Collection of Greek, Roman Imperial, Byzantine and World Coinage; The Patrick H. James Collection of Greek and British Coinage and the Edoardo Levante Collection–Greek and Roman Provincial Coinage.

There will be an online, Internet-only, Session 5. This E-Sale 342 will feature over 1,000 lots and will close Jan. 14.
