Stack’s Bowers sale starts Feb. 5

The auction will be called on the first day in the firm’s private auction gallery, located at 110 W. 57th St., and will resume Feb. 6 at the Le Parker Méridien.
Other interesting pieces from the 1790s that will go on the block include a 1792 pattern disme in copper, Judd-10 graded PCGS VF-25. Only about a dozen of these exist.
A 1794 half dime, LM-1, graded Specimen-64 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation is another highlight. Overall, it has an estimated population of no more than a half dozen pieces, according to the catalog.
The sale will also feature tokens, medals and related items.
These include an 1825 John Quincy Adams Indian Peace medal described as “Medium size. Silver. 62 mm, 3.2 to 3.4 mm thick. 105.21 grams. By Moritz Furst and John Reich. Julian IP-12. Choice Very Fine.”
Also in the sale is a 1905 Theodore Roosevelt inaugural medal. It is “Bronze Cast. 73.6 mm. 121.7 grams. By Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Adolph Alexander Weinman. Dusterberg OIM 2B74, Levine TR 1905-2, Vermeule 119, Bowers-Jaeger 27. Choice Mint State.”
