The Hawaii State Numismatic Association’s 50th Coin Show held Oct. 25-27 sponsored the Boy Scout Coin Collecting Merit Badge Clinic.
During the three-day event two clinics were held, one each on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. Patricia A. Finner, former ANA vice president, hosted the interactive class.
The 2-1/2 hour workshop allows Scouts to earn their Coin Collecting Merit Badge during the show.
The HSNA called the turnout for this year’s event tremendous. A total of 107 Boy Scouts and one Girl Scout earned Coin Collecting Merit Badges. Also in attendance were 61 parents and 15 siblings.
One of the highlights of the event was a drawing at the end of the clinic, during which three lucky Scouts won a 2008-P Hawaii statehood quarter with the “Tsunami Die Clash.” The pieces were donated by Mark Brodie and Joe Au-Franz.
