PNNA gives awards, hosts show
A sold-out bourse of 85 tables greeted visitors to the 64th annual Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association Convention held April 12-14 at the Tukwila Community Center, which is just outside the Seattle city limits.
General Chairman, Mike Labosier, said, “Over 1,100 people attended the show, with most dealers commenting that retails sales of collector coins was brisk.”
Bourse Chairman Scott Loos, a bourse dealer himself, said, “I have not seen such a public numismatic buying frenzy like this at our shows in a number of years. It is safe to say the disposable income woes from the 2009 recession appear to be over for the numismatic world.”
At the PNNA award presentations, The PNNA awarded two full 2012 ANA Summer Seminar Scholarships, one adult and one youth, valued at $1,200 to adult Ron Engholm and youth Cannyn Morris.
The 2012 Club Newsletter literary honors. First place went to the Boeing Employees Coin Club, Terry Kamm editor. Second place was claimed by The Salem (OR) Numismatic Society, James Free editor.
PNNA President Danny Bisgaard honored Mike Labosier with a Presidential Award.
The PNNA-Willamette Coin Club fall show at the Portland Doubletree Hotel will take place Oct. 4-6. For more information, contact Larry Gaye at: (503) 579-6416.
