The Original Hobo Nickel Society’s 21st Mail and Floor Bid Auction will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. at the membership meeting held during the FUN convention at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Among the hobo nickels up for auction is the famous two-sided “dicer” hobo nickel carved by George Washington “Bo” Hughes and owned by Bill Fivaz, as well as a two-sided modern hobo nickel carving created by Ron Landis. The 1913-2013 centennial carving is a tribute to the dicer nickel.
More than 50 classic, nicknamed and modern carvers are represented in the sale.
Mail bids must be received by Jan. 7. Send them to Stephen Alpert, PO Box 335441, North Las vegas, Nev. 89033-5441. He may be contacted with questions at quadra1@cox.net or 1-702-473-9071. More information is available at the OHNS website at www.hobonickels.org. The auction is only open to members.
OHNS 2013 hobo tokens will be available for purchase at the FUN show, as well as wooden nickels and 2013 elongates.
