Cherrypicking Basics

Mark Borckardt is the senior cataloger of U.S. coins at Heritage Auctions and has been a full-time professional numismatist since 1980.

In addition to the more than 260 tables of numismatic material for sale, the show will feature an 1862 model 58 caliber fully functional Gatling gun with six barrels and an open brass breach. The gun, which fires 200 rounds per minute, will be displayed courtesy of Mark Thompson.

Show attendees will receive a free elongated cent featuring the Gatling gun. The elongated cents will be rolled on site by Vicky and Lee Bowser of Alexander, Ariz.

A Young Numismatist program is slated for Saturday afternoon. Free for all children and parents, the program will start at 1 p.m. with an educational presentation by Bob Hartje.

An exhibit of the Western and Atlantic Railroad scrip will be on display throughout the show.

Public hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 27-28, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. April 29.
