Gold tops at Heritage

More than $36 million was realized Sept. 25-29 in auctions of U.S. and world coins and paper money conducted by Heritage Auctions at the Long Beach, Calif., Coin, Stamp & Sports Collectible Expo.

More than $36 million was realized Sept. 25-29 in auctions of U.S. and world coins and paper money conducted by Heritage Auctions at the Long Beach, Calif., Coin, Stamp & Sports Collectible Expo.

United States coins nabbed over $17 million of that total. They were highlighted by a 1912 Saint-Gaudens gold $20 in PR-66+ PCGS Secure CAC sticker bringing $164,500.

It was part of an original 1912 proof set sold at the sale. The other coins in it brought the value of the set to $358,375.

Prices include a 17.5 percent buyer’s fee.

The world and ancient portion realized $10.6 million and the paper money section brought over $7.6 million.
