Fetching features at the Whitman 2019 Baltimore expo!
As many numismatists already know the 2019 Whitman Baltimore expo is just a few weeks away and it looks like they’re gearing up for one of the best shows yet!
Along with the Drummer, Fairmont, and Newmark collections, there are four other collections being featured, seven in total, including: the Larry L. Terrell collection, William J. Naddeo collection, Ralph A. Edson and pieces from Q. David Bower’s collection.
A top feature of the first session, U.S. Coins Part One, is an 1859 Indian Cent. Its toning is a blend of deep rose, pale lilac, and honey orange and has a rare cameo finish for its particular issue. As I write, the current bid is at $5,500.

Another feature of the first session is an 1858/7 Flying Eagle Cent. Snow-1, FS-301. Strong. Large Letters, High Leaves. With a grade of MS62 by PCGS, this bird has a starting bid of $3,000 as I write.
Perhaps more impressive is the 1856 Flying Eagle Cent in session two, soaring above the first with a current bid of $17,000. The 1856 Flying Eagle cent was prepared as a pattern in late 1856 and early 1857 to show the new small size cent in copper-nickel composition.
An originally toned piece with modest semi-reflectivity in the fields under a light, it is a highly desirable piece of numismatic gold.
