The Fairfield (California) Coin Club celebrated four decades in organized numismatics at its Oct. 23 meeting at the Grace Episcopal Church, Fairfield, Calif.
The event was a potluck with no business, just an opportunity for attendees to relax and to enjoy each other’s company. Some sixty members and guests attended.
Among the attendees was the sole remaining founding member and longtime booster, Ernest P. Drake, as well as past presidents William F. Bartz, Robert W. Belleau, Sr., and Michael S. Turrini, who represented the California State Numismatic Association (CSNA) being its current president.
Turrini, district representative for the American Numismatic Association, presented a citation from the ANA honoring the Club’s on its 40th anniversary.
“We wanted a low-key affair, something to appeal to both our members and guests. The intention was to have something that had those present relaxing and enjoying the food and fellowship,” reported Kevin M. Quenga Sr, Fairfield Coin Club President.
The Fairfield Coin Club was founded in March 1973 and has been active these past four decades. It has met at its current site since the mid-1970s. The club is a member of the ANA, CSNA, and the Northern California Numismatic Association (NCNA).
It sponsors an annual coin show. The 2014 show will be held Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Fairfield Community Center.
The club meets on the fourth Wednesday, except in December, at 7 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Fairfield, Calif. Information about the club can learned at www.solanocoinclub.com or e-mail fccjoni@yahoo.com.
