The elusive 1793 S-15 cent will be among the stars in the Heritage Auctions sale held in conjunction with the Long Beach, Calif., Expo, Sept. 6-11.

The coin is part of the Padula Family Foundation Collection of important early cents, a lifetime large cent collection offering one of the few complete Sheldon-numbered variety sets ever formed, according to Heritage.

A Padula Family Collection 1793 S-15 cent offered in Heritage’s September Long Beach sale is the fifth-finest known.

“The Padula Family Collection is one that comes along once in a lifetime,” said Sam Foose, consignment director for Heritage. “For early American copper collectors, now is the time to consign collections or consider trading up.”

The collection will be offered in the sale in its entirety without reserve.

The 1793 S-15 cent has been graded VG-10 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and is the fifth-finest known.

Another star of the Padula Collection is a 1794 S-37 cent NGC has certified VF Details.

Another coin sure to catch collectors’ attention is the 1794 S-37 cent, ex: Exman Collection, graded VF Details by NGC.

The well-known 1795 reeded edge S-79 cent will cross the block.
A VG-7 1795 S-80 Liberty Cap cent with bisecting crack is among the Padula Collection offerings.

The collection also includes what Heritage calls a famous reeded edge cent: 1795 S-79, graded Good-4 EAC, as well as a 1795 Liberty Cap cent, S-80, graded VG-7 EAC.

The Long Beach Expo will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center. Public hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 7-8, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. For more details, visit www.longbeachexpo.com.

Consignment deadline for the Heritage auction is July 24. Visit www.ha.com for more information.
