Coppers in Goldberg sale
Ira and Larry Goldberg Auctioneers will conduct the firm’s Pre-Long Beach Coin Auction June 10-13.
Highlights will include the Ora Eads collection of odd and curious money, world and ancient coins.
For U.S. coin collectors, a highlight will be the second part of the Green Tree collection of half cents.
Estimated to bring $15,000 or more is a 1794 half cent. According to the catalog, it is C-4b R7 Large Edge Letters, graded VG-10 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
Further, the catalog reads, “A nice example of a very important variety that is missing from most advanced collections, tied for CC#5 in the Mike Spurlock census. Noyes photo #73664. Weight 100.1 grains. Our grade is VG8+, very close to the VG10 grade assigned by PCGS. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 30 for the variety.”
