There are two ways to get a version of the Chicago Coin Club’s 2013 American Numismatic Association convention medal hosted this year by CCC.
One way is to purchase the collector version. The other way is to give a talk at the convention and be the recipient of one of 50 that will be given in recognition of the effort required to present a numismatic program.
The collector version is made of nickel-silver with antique finish. It measures 2 inches by 1.375 inches by .125 inch.
On obverse, the medal prominently features “Standing Lincoln,” a statue created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907), who also designed the famous $20 gold piece that bears his name.
The statue was placed in Chicago’s Lincoln Park at North Dearborn Parkway.
Running vertically up the side behind Lincoln is CHICAGO COIN CLUB.
On the reverse, the medal reads AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION CONVENTION, CHICAGO 2013.
Only 250 of these medals were minted at IMC in Bloomington, Ind. The medal is priced at $20 each plus $3 for handling and insurance.
Checks should be made payable to Chicago Coin Club, P.O. Box 2301, Chicago, IL 60690. Do not send cash.
The club will also sell the medals during the convention Aug. 13-17 at its designated table.
The speaker version of the medal will be attached to a neck ribbon.
Money Talks Chairman Dale Lukanich will give every presenter at the Money Talks program an individually engraved medal attached to a royal blue neck ribbon. The medals are a gesture of appreciation from the members of the Chicago Coin Club.
The reverse of this medal will read, \MONEY TALKS PRESENTER (Engraved Name) AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION CONVENTION CHICAGO 2013.
The CCC hopes that when convention goers see someone wearing this medal, they will thank them.
Prospective speakers are asked to make a presentation proposal to the ANA Education Department. The form can be downloaded at www.worldsfairofmoney.com/numismatic-events/money-talks. Deadline for proposals is June 5.
