Following the record-setting sale of the Battle Born Collection of Carson City coins at the American Numismatic Association World’s Fair of Money, Carson City Coin Collectors of America (C4OA) club members gathered Aug. 24 at the Carson Nugget Casino in Carson City.

Club President Rusty Goe began the meeting with a lecture on the results of the sale. He covered how many new price records were broken, high-dollar sales of “CC” rarities and which individual coins fared best and worst overall.

Following Goe’s speech, numerous club members took turns at the lectern to participate in the regional meeting’s traditional show-and-tell session.

After member Mark Archambault spoke about his completed Carson City half dollar set, he said, “It’s just great to see everyone here in Carson City after only reading about many of you in Curry’s Chronicle,” the group’s publication.

Archambault travelled nearly 3,000 miles from New Hampshire to participate in his first regional C4OA meeting.

The club awarded approximately $2,800 in raffle prizes during two drawings – one for present members and one for members who were unable to attend.

About 26 members gathered later that evening for a banquet dinner in the casino’s ballroom.
