Brockton, Mass., marks Coin Week

In celebration of 2012 National Coin Week, a gathering was held at the Brockton, Mass., Public Library April 14. In addition to a numismatic display case posted in the library, YN Samir Bouchaiba brought in his own poster featuring U.S. coin images and information.

Collector and organizer Richard Hand rewarded Bouchaiba with items such as a 1963 Red Seal $2 note, 2012 cents and nickels, and a U.S. Mint backpack.

Speaker Norman Totten gave a talk on money before coins, early coins and unusual money.

James C. Johnston Jr. presented “Life of a Pirate.”

The Coin Week event was recorded by a local cable station, and radio station 95.5 WATD-FM was on site for an interview.
