From the July 7 Numismatic News E-Newsletter

Do you have a season that’s slower than others for your hobby activities? When and why?

My slow time would be around the holidays. Discretionary funds used for Christmas gifts and holiday celebrations, but anything left over goes back into my collection.

No slow season for this numismatist! The search for completing or upgrading is never-ending. Shows are more prevalent during nice weather, so challenging weather days lead to research and inventory. Ours is a ’round-the-clock endeavor!

My collecting seems to be pretty steady all year long. It gets heavier when I have extra income coming in.

The thing I like about coins is if you get in a pinch financially you can always sell some and sometimes get near the price you paid. Everything else depreciates.

I collect all types of U.S. coinage.

Summer, definitely.
