Will America the Beautiful 5-ounce silver collector’s uncirculated coins be a good investment?

Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.

World coin collectors will want to check out the Chicago International Coin Fair, held April 15th to the 17th.

The value of this collection will follow the value of silver.

I certainly hope so. I’ve bought two of every issue in the vapor blast collectors issue since the beginning. I’d hate to think that I just bought a lot of really expensive silver bullion.

Really hard to say. They do look good in a collection but it depends on the spot price on precious metals as to whether it is a good investment.

As long the U.S. Mint keeps the mintage low they will be, but if they increase the production (mintage), then I think many people will quit buying them.

When the U.S. Mint starts to see something selling really well, they get greedy and kill it. This happened before. I wish the Mint would see it in the collector’s way sometime.

I think that we will have to wait for an answer to that question simply because it will depend on the market price of silver, which, I might add, includes all the other silver coins as well.

However, if you are a collector and not an investor, I don’t see a problem.

I, for one, am strictly a collector. I am not interested in the game of buying and selling.

I love to look at and touch all my old coins. They tell a story, each coin I have tells me something about how it had been used. I know it sounds silly to say such a thing but I feel like can picture myself at that time and place.

I will have to say, however, that if you are in it for the money, you are going to have a long wait before you’re going to see a profit.
