Is the 30,000 Jackie Kennedy First Spouse gold coin mintage too high?

Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.

Jackie Kennedy’s first spouse gold coin will be so beautiful that a mintage of 30,000 will probably be too low.

No. Mintages are never too high or too low.

Believe it or not, 30,000 is a low amount for an issue of this type; 100,000 is more like it being the amount of collectors who can afford it. Silver and clad issues to follow can fill the bill for those who can’t afford the higher gold issue price. Think hopeful that this will happen with this and other issues.

I think there should be an order window, and the coins should be minted to order. Stop all early releases, including at coin shows. All coin sales should be offered to everyone.

I don’t think 30,000 will be enough. I was raised during the John Kennedy days. and he and Jackie were the darlings of the United States of America.

The baby boomers will love the coin as we loved Jackie and there will be no problem in selling the 30,000 the first day.
