This week it’s all things silver American Eagle. The 2022-W silver proof 1-ounce coin has been added to the Collector Eagle section – and what a splash it made! After just four days of availability (April 14 through this week’s report end date of April 17), it amassed a sales total of 490,947.

To put that into perspective, total sales of the old and new design combined for all of 2021 is 598,123. We will be watching as this Eagle continues its ascent.

The 2022 Congratulations Set, consisting of the new proof silver Eagle was also released on April 14 and promptly sold out of its 30,000 limit. The Mint reports a sales total of 29,972.

Not to be overshadowed, the bullion version of the silver Eagle had a healthy performance over the last week as well. For the month of April, it saw an increase to 833,000 from its prior week’s total of 425,000, bringing the year-to-date total to a whopping 8,414,500.

While we’re talking precious metals, we can’t leave out gold. Some nice April increases were posted for the gold bullion Eagle with the 1-ounce jumping from 21,500 to 61,000 and the 1/4-ounce version more than doubling from 6,000 to 14,000. The proof Buffalo jumped 10,000 from last week for an April total of 17,000.
