High demand for gold American Eagles in March of 2015 led sales to more than double compared to orders in March of 2014.
In 2014, March saw 21,000 total ounces sold. In 2015, the same month saw Authorized Purchasers order 46,500 ounces.
Bullion sales began April 1 with 1,000 half-ounce gold Eagles and 1,500 gold Buffaloes purchased that day.
On the same day, the United States Mint reported it had sold out of the 2015 Homestead 5-ounce silver bullion coins with 35,000 coins taken.
The 2015 clad proof set began sales on March 24 with 232,107 sets acquired by March 29.
The 2015-W uncirculated silver American Eagle went on sale March 26 with collectors buying 127,872 coins as of March 29.
