World and ancient coins are the focus of the 31st Annual Chicago International Coin Fair, to be held March 30-April 2 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O?Hare, 5440 North River Road, Rosemont, Ill.
Ponterio & Associates will anchor the auction portion of the show, sponsored by Krause Publications, with a sale on Friday and Saturday featuring shipwreck coins and bars, paper money, ancients and other world coins. In addition, several clubs will hold meetings on Friday and Saturday.
?Just about anything one can conceive of in the world and ancient numismatic fields will be available in the CICF bourse area,? said CICF Convention Chairman Kevin Foley. ?There will be everything from coins and paper money for the beginner, priced at $10 or less, as well as ultra rarities commanding six-figure price tags.?
The bourse will get under way on March 30, with the Professional Preview from 2 to 6 p.m. Collectors and dealers without booths will have early access to the bourse prior to the regular public hours in return for a $50 registration fee. The show will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. A pass valid throughout the event is $5, with free admission Sunday.
Clubs having meetings include the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild, Chicago Ancient Coin Collectors, Chicago Coin Club, Every Country Collector?s Group and the International Primitive Money Society.
