Final Kansas figures released

So-called “Buffalo” quarter goes off sale Oct. 14.

The U.S. Mint has issued the last known sales figures for the Kansas state quarter, known as the buffalo quarter.

Going off sale on Oct. 14, when the West Virginia quarter was released, the Kansas quarter features a buffalo and a sunflower motif.

A total of 40,490 100-coin bags of the Kansas were sold, with 20,358 coming from the Philadelphia mint and 20,132 from Denver.

Also, 2,265 1,000-coin bags of the Kansas quarter were sold – 1,121 of the Philadelphia version and 1,144 of the Denver.

The Kansas quarter launched Aug. 29.
