Poll Question: Will you be looking to add the Semiquincentennial dollar coin to your collection?
From the August 21, 2026, Numismatic News e-newsletter, readers share their thoughts on the new Semiquincentennial dollar coin.
I most empathically can say I will not add this coin to my collection. This is purely another example of Trump's narcissistic desire to have his name and face on everything, even though his actions are destroying this country. And U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, as a Trump sycophant, is breaking a long-standing rule about having a living person appearing on U.S. currency.
I am so disgusted by this action that I have deleted my U.S. Mint account and have marked any emails from the U.S. Mint as spam. I will never order another item from the U.S. Mint.

No, I am not going to add a coin to my collection that is honoring a sitting president in violation of previous rules.

In my opinion, this coin is a good idea, but the design is all wrong. This is the first time a living person will be featured on a U.S. legal coin. Why break precedent? Just because he is the sitting President does not make him a good choice to be featured on this coin. Mr. Trump should have taken the high road and not allowed his face to be featured on such a coin. Again, in my opinion, a better choice would have been someone of historical significance. Someone no longer living. My choice would have been George Washington. For such reasons as he was there during the inception of this country. He is currently on the one-dollar bill with the same denomination as the new coin. He became the first President and leader of a new nation. He has relevance to the subject of the Revolution.
I would not purchase this coin for no other reason than to treat it as an oddity, a mistake, a coin that never should have been. I could not enjoy the purchase or possession of such a coin.

I already have the real semiQ coin in my collection.
The coin you show online, I don't see what it has to do with anything that was going on in 1776.
I might acquire one to have, but not as part of a semiQ collection.

Yes, I will be looking to add all semiquincentennial coins.

Absolutely. Like the President or not, it’s history. Only live one on a coin.
Name and Address withheld
Absolutely not. That coin would have no reflection on this country’s history over the past 250 years.

This is one I will take a pass on. I guess my collection will be farther from being complete.
