New issues from around the world celebrate French art and architecture, Caribbean wildlife, New Zealand’s beekeeping heritage, and a century of British Grand Prix racing.
France
A new addition to the Monnaie De Paris’s “French Excellence” series honors the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Musée d’Orsay. Drawing inspiration from the museum’s building and collections, the series includes gold and silver proof issues in a range of 10€–500€ issues. Also a part of the series is a commemorative paperweight medal inspired by a Gae Aulenti medal created for the museum’s opening in 1986. Courtesy of Monnaie de Paris.
Montserrat
Native to the island, the Montserrat Oriole serves as a symbol of the Caribbean nation’s heritage. It has also recently garnered the reverse design of a 1 troy ounce of .999 silver coin from the “Eastern Caribbean 8 (EC8)” series. New Zealand
In 1839, missionary Mary Bumby brought bees to New Zealand. By the 1860s, honey became a booming industry, with many members of the Māori being the country’s first commercial beekeepers. It is now making hundreds of millions for the country’s economy. In honor of this great contribution to industry, the New Zealand Mint has collaborated with Apiculture New Zealand and artist Helcia Berryman to create the Queen Bee silver proof coin. The new 1-ounce issue is hexagonal-shaped like a honeycomb and features a colorized image of a queen bee. Courtesy of New Zealand Mint.
United Kingdom
A racing car speeds on the reverse design of the Royal Mint’s Grand Prix 50p coin. As part of the Mint’s 2026 Annual Sets, the design celebrates the 100th anniversary of the British Grand Prix and shows the evolution of racing designs that have been used in the famous race.
