Coin of the Year Ceremony to be Held in Pittsburgh
Nearly 600 nominated coins have been narrowed to the COTY 100 and category winners, with the ultimate 2026 Coin of the Year soon to be revealed.
The long-anticipated Coin of the Year (COTY) ceremony, honoring 2025-dated coins, will be held once again in conjunction with the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money. The event will be held on Thursday, August 27, at 11 AM in room 413 of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The COTY program kicked off in January of this year with a call for nominations to mints and banks around the world. The submissions came pouring in, resulting in nearly 600 coins nominated for consideration.
The Nominating Committee met in April, deciding the COTY 100 – ten coins in ten categories – which was announced not long after. These 100 coins were sent off to an international panel of judges for voting, resulting in the category winners. The judges voted once again to decide the ultimate Coin of the Year.
The Coin of the Year ceremony is free and open to the public. Enthusiasts of modern coin design are encouraged to attend and be one of the first to know what the numismatic experts have deemed to be the best in modern coin design and innovation.
