Listen to David Hall

David Hall is a special guest on Coin Chat Radio tomorrow. He is a man who needs no introduction among collectors. As founder of Professional Coin Grading Service, the first privately operated coin grading and authentication service, he revolutionized numismatics in the 1980s.

The PCGS idea to encapsulate graded coins took the hobby by storm and created its own verb: to slab, meaning to grade, authenticate and put a coin in a capsule.

The interview is not about his past however. He is president of Collectors Universe and the firm has upgraded the PCGS Web site to include a weekly video commentary by David about market conditions.

There is much more. It has been my experience that David Hall says interesting things. The current interview meets that description and more.

The program is available online tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock. It will repeat every hour for the following week, and it can be downloaded onto an iPod.

One Response to Listen to David Hall

  1. Scott in DC says:

How many times has David Hall be on Coin Chat Radio? While he may have some interesting things to say, he has been on at least three times whereas the only person associated with another grading service that has been a guest is John Feigenbaum of Dominion Grading Service. Since PCGS is a sponsor, there is a question of objectivity.

In fact, how many people representing sponsors have been on Coin Chat Radio? One of the oddest interviews was with the people at JP’s Corner. The interview did not fit in with the show and felt like the people you spoke with were very uncomfortable.

With the exception of Dave Harper’s floor interviews at the ANA World’s Fair of Money, it seems like most of the interviews are with sponsors. This makes the show look like an infomercial and not something one would expect from a news-oriented company.

I hope Coin Chat Radio branches out beyond its sponsors for guests and information.
