UK’s eBid launches new United States auction site

The United Kingdom auction Web site eBid (www.eBid.net) has officially launched its new U.S. site.

As part of the U.S. kickoff, eBid is offering new customers a Lifetime Gold Membership (a $79.99 value) for $1.20.

Lifetime Gold Members enjoy zero listing fees, zero final value fees, zero reserve price fees, zero BuyNow fees and a free eBid Stores service.

The eBid U.S. launch follows an eight-month pilot program that attracted over 10,000 U.S. buyers and sellers. Site enhancements suggested by these new members, such as new product categories and pricing structures, have been implemented prior to launch.

“Our zero listing fees and responsive customer service are what sets us apart.” said Gary Sewell, co-founder and CEO of eBid.

eBid now has hundreds of thousands of auction items in over 3,500 product categories, including music, clothing, collectibles, jewelry, consumer electronics, video games and antiques.

The site’s search capability allows customers to find items in their region or peruse globally.

If shoppers can’t find an item, eBid offers a unique feature that allows buyers to post a free “Wanted” ad and list the price they are willing to pay. Sellers then bid to meet the shoppers’ requirements with the best price.

eBid offers escrow and instant online payments through its secure PPPay.com service. Transactions can be made in U.S. dollars, U.K. pounds and euros from credit or debit cards. PPPay.com escrow holds money on a buyer’s behalf until items are received and they are inspected. Alternatively, PPPay.com’s instant payment feature securely and instantly transfers payments, eBid says.

Both PPPay.com escrow and instant  payment features are simple and secure, making eBid one of the safest marketplaces on the Web for individuals, small businesses and larger companies that achieve greater revenue from excess inventory than through traditional liquidation options, according to eBid.
An auction site with  more than 3,500 product categories, www.eBid.net was founded in 2000 and provides sites in Australia, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. eBid expects to launch sites for France, Spain, Italy and Germany in the near future.
