Attendance was up more than 13 percent at the SoCal Coin and Currency Show held Dec. 16-18 at the Ontario, Calif., Convention Center, according to organizers.

Sixty-two Boy Scouts attended the show-sponsored Boy Scout Merit Badge Workshop, and 11 Girl Scouts completed the Fun with Money course. More than 50 family members participated in the learning activities. Classes were taught by Patti Finner, former vice president of the American Numismatic Association.

“The boys have never been to a coin show before and are beside themselves with excitement,” said one troop leader.

Garrett Burke, concept designer of the California state quarter, held a question-and-answer session on the state quarter program and premiered his book, Quarterama, as well as never-seen original art from the publication.
