The last of the 2009 Lincoln rolls have left the page to make room for the cumulative totals of the fractional gold American Eagles sold so far this year. Sales had stopped some while ago for the cent rolls, so I expect readers have had enough time to note the final sales numbers.

The cumulative fractional gold totals are in numbers of coins while the monthly box score elsewhere on the same page includes both the total coins sold and the number of ounces.

Sales of the silver American Eagle have reached almost 20 million. Demand for the popular coin continues. I hope demand falls off enough to let the Mint strike proof versions this year so there will not be a two-year gap.

The collector proof one-ounce platinum American Eagle goes on sale Aug. 12 while the latest Mint communication lists the possibility of proof gold and silver American Eagles with a “TBD” (To be determined) notation. With five months until year end, keep your fingers crossed.
