Mint Stats: Gold Buffalo buyers beat Eagle buyers

goldbuffaloOne-ounce gold Buffalo bullion coins outsold one-ounce American Eagle bullion coins since last week’s column. However, the 4,000-coin versus 3,500- coin sales, respectively, were not large numbers in any case. The doldrums have definitely set in among gold bullion coin buyers. The only other sales were 5,000 additional tenth-ounce gold Eagles.

The proof 2013-W silver American Eagle has just about reached the 600,000 sales figure. The weekly increase of 16,191 brings the running count to 599,371. For the 2013-W uncirculated silver American Eagle, sales rose by 2,132 to 118,775.

For people who like round numbers, the 2012 Treasury Coin and Currency Set has reached 60,000. Sales have been ongoing for nearly a year.

The William Howard Taft Presidential dollar has become available. Strong early demand for the 100-coin bag has pushed those sales number beyond those of Teddy Roosevelt. Taft would smile.
