Mint sets prices for August releases

The U.S. Mint has announced prices for its 2008 silver proof set and Andrew Jackson First Spouse gold coin.

The silver proof set, scheduled to go on sale Aug. 26, is priced at $44.95. It is the same as the 2007 set’s price.

No household limit has been placed on the set.

The Andrew Jackson First Spouse gold coin goes on sale two days later on Aug. 28. The half-ounce proof version costs $619.95, and the uncirculated is $599.95. The prices are identical to those set for the Louisa Adams and Elizabeth Monroe gold coins.

The mintage limit is set at 40,000 across both versions, and consumer demand will determine the breakdown between the proof and uncirculated coins.

An order limit of 10 per version of the Jackson First Spouse coin is in effect during the first week of sales. After this initial period, the Mint will reevaluate the limit.

Because Jackson was a widower during his service as president, a Capped Bust Liberty design that was in use during his administration is featured on the coin.

To place an order for these products on or after their release dates, visit the Mint’s Web site at www.usmint.gov, or call (800) USA-MINT.
